avipitchon.blogspot.comAvi Pitchon is an Israeli writer, curator and artist living and working in London. In 2010 he curated the first Middle-Eastern retrospective exhibition of Slovenia's IRWIN group and the NSK State, which opened in The Israeli Centre For Digital Art, Holon, IL. Pitchon's visual art work has been displayed recently at the Taipei Biennale, der Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, and the Škuc Gallery in Ljubljana Slovenia. He recently published art theory essays in a book accompanying artist Yael Bartana's appearance in the Venice Biennial, and in the 'State Of Emergence' anthology documenting the First NSK Citizens Congress in Berlin. He is a regular music and arts writer for magazines and periodicals in the UK, Germany and Israel. His first book , an eyewitness account of Israeli counterculture in the '80s is about to be published in 2012. Pitchon's recent work and writing deals with the relationships between art and politics, with a focus on utopian and otherwise monumental aesthetics and iconography and their penetration to popular culture.
